Hey everyone! It is a big day here at Operation T.A.G. (Tangible Act of Gratitude). As we continue to grow and expand our mission of serving those who have served us, we’re always on the lookout for people who don’t just talk the talk but actually walk the walk.
If you caught my last post, you know I’ve been thinking a lot about the difference between "marketing" and "serving." In this industry, it’s easy to slap a flag on a flyer and call it a day. But at Operation T.A.G., we believe that if our military families are "worth it", and they absolutely are, then they deserve more than just slogans. They deserve tangible, financial support that changes the trajectory of their lives.
That’s why I am beyond excited to officially welcome our newest Hometown Hero Credit Community Ambassador: Randy Wilson.
Randy isn't just another guy in the mortgage industry. He is a man who has spent his entire career looking for ways to improve the quality of life for the families in his community. Whether he was crawling through attics to check insulation or helping a first-time buyer navigate a complex loan, Randy’s heart has always been in the right place: service.
A Legacy of Service and Expertise
When we look for Community Ambassadors, we look for a very specific "DNA." We need people who understand the technical side of real estate and lending, sure, but they also need a deep-seated commitment to helping others. Randy Wilson has both in spades.
Randy is a dedicated Loan Officer with Paramount Residential Mortgage Group (PRMG). For those who don’t know, PRMG is one of the nation’s leading independently owned mortgage lenders. By leveraging their advanced technology and massive resources, Randy is able to provide his clients with competitive products and a seamless path to closing.
But Randy’s story goes much deeper than just the last few years in lending. He has been a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Georgia since 1997. Think about that for a second. He has nearly three decades of experience watching the market shift, seeing families grow, and understanding the nuances of Georgia real estate. That kind of "boots-on-the-ground" knowledge is exactly what our veterans and active-duty members need when they are making one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives.

From Energy Audits to Homeownership
One of the things that stood out to me most about Randy’s background is his 25-year career with a statewide electrical company in Georgia. He served as a Certified Energy Auditor, advising families on how to make their homes more efficient.
Now, you might be wondering, "Brett, what does energy auditing have to do with the Hometown Hero Credit?"
It’s about the mindset. Randy didn’t just tell people how to save a few bucks on their power bill; he served as an Energy Efficiency Program Manager, overseeing initiatives that provided upgrades like attic insulation, air sealing, and smart surge protection to income-qualified homeowners at no cost.
That is the definition of a "Tangible Act of Gratitude." He spent decades ensuring that families, especially those who might be struggling, had a safer, more affordable place to live. That commitment to improving financial well-being and quality of life is the exact energy he brings to our mission here at Operation T.A.G.
Why Randy is the Perfect Fit for Operation T.A.G.
At Operation T.A.G., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, our mission is to facilitate the Hometown Hero Credit. This isn't a "maybe" or a "someday" benefit. It is a real, 2% credit (up to $21,000) designed to help military families buy or refinance a home.
Randy’s approach to lending is rooted in three things: Education, Transparency, and Responsiveness.
He doesn’t just hand over a pile of paperwork and tell you where to sign. He ensures that every client, whether they are a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned investor, understands their options. When you’re dealing with VA loans and specialized programs, you need someone who can translate "bank-speak" into plain English.

Understanding the Hometown Hero Credit
Since Randy is joining us as a Community Ambassador, I want to make sure everyone reading this understands exactly what he’ll be helping families achieve through our non-profit program.
The Hometown Hero Credit is a 2% credit on the loan amount, up to a maximum of $21,000.
Here is the breakdown of how this tangible act of gratitude can be used:
- Closing Fees: It can be applied to cover those pesky costs that pop up at the end of a transaction.
- Interest Rate Buy-Down: In today's market, this is huge. You can use the credit to lower your monthly payment for the life of the loan.
- Real Estate Agent Fees: It can help cover professional fees associated with the move.
- Debt Pay-Down: This is a game-changer. In some cases, the credit can be used to pay down existing debt to help a family qualify for their VA loan.
A few important things to remember:
- The credit is calculated on the loan amount, not the sales price.
- It cannot be used for a down payment (though, as many of you know, VA loans generally do not require a down payment anyway!).
- It cannot be used for non-loan purposes.
Randy knows these details inside and out. He understands that for a military family, $21,000 isn't just a number on a ledger, it’s the difference between a "house" and a "home." It’s the ability to keep more money in their pocket for their kids' education or for their own retirement.

Education as a Tool for Empowerment
One of the reasons Randy and I hit it off is our shared belief that education is the ultimate tool for empowerment. Randy specializes in a broad range of programs, VA, FHA, conventional, and jumbo, but his heart beats for the VA loan.
There are so many myths out there about VA loans. Sellers are sometimes told they are "too difficult," and veterans are sometimes told they shouldn't use them. Randy is here to bust those myths. By combining his deep knowledge of the Georgia real estate market with the power of our non-profit credit, he is creating a "seamless path" for heroes to get into homes.
When Randy speaks with a veteran, he isn't just looking at a credit score. He’s looking at a family who has sacrificed. He’s looking at a story. And because he’s a man of integrity, he builds lasting relationships. He wants to be your lender for life, not just for one transaction.
Joining the Squad
Becoming a Community Ambassador for the Hometown Hero Credit isn't just a title. It’s a commitment to being a local resource. It means Randy is the point person for military families in Georgia who want to know how to maximize their benefits.
He’s partnering with real estate professionals who want to offer more to their clients. If you’re an agent in Georgia and you want to tell your military clients, "Hey, I can help you get up to $21,000 back at closing through this non-profit program," then Randy is the man you need to call.
Randy Wilson represents the best of what we do. He’s a bridge-builder. He takes the resources of a massive lender like PRMG and combines them with the heart of a local non-profit like Operation T.A.G.
How to Get Started
If you’re a veteran, an active-duty member, or a Gold Star family looking to buy or refinance in Georgia, don’t navigate this alone. You deserve someone who has spent 30 years learning the landscape and who genuinely believes "You are worth it."
Randy is ready to help you look at your financing options with total transparency. No hidden agendas, no "marketing" fluff: just honest, strategic lending solutions that make a real difference.
Welcome to the squad, Randy! We are honored to have you on the front lines with us.
